LERAMLaboratory for the Study of Rheology and the Adhesion of Medical Adhesives
The IPREM and the pharmaceutical URGO have joined forces to create LERAM, or Laboratory for the Study of Rheology and the Adhesion of Medical Adhesives, a common laboratory designed to create innovative products in the area of medical adhesives.Adhesion to biological tissues is complex if we associate, to the adhesive's holding, the different functions it must fulfil during its use (such as comfort, follow skin deformations, absorb sweat or exudates without deteriorating, allow an easy removal without pain and without deposit, ...). For this type of complex assemblies, the adhesive and the substrate must be analysed together. It is in this context that IPREM and URGO Laboratories wish to increase their collaboration aiming to (i) develop original research around the elaboration of adhesive formulations intended for medical applications in wound healing and dermatology and (ii) implement characterizations adapted to this type of materials, particularly in the evolution of their properties during use.
The purpose of the LERAM Joint Laboratory will therefore be focused on three main areas:
- To develop new original adhesives based on upstream macromolecular engineering reflections
- To characterize the properties of these materials as well as that of the assembly, and in particular their evolution during use
- Model rheological and adhesion properties.
