Skills

  • Geochemistry of trace elements and strontium isotopes in aquatic environments
  • Elemental and isotopic microchemistry of fish otoliths
  • Origin and movements of migratory fish

Research interests

  • Dynamics of trace elements in natural and anthropogenic aquatic environments: origins and fate.
  • Significance of elemental and isotopic records in fish otoliths; the role of habitat chemistry, temperature, diet and fish metabolism.
  • Application of fish otolith microchemistry in behavioural ecology: place of origin, geographical dispersal and exchange rates between river basins, intra-continental or coastal movements, and the effectiveness of stock management measures.
