I was secretary of European Chitin Science Board (2013-2015) and I was appointed in 2011 Member of "Committee on Chemistry and Industry" de l'IUPAC as national representative.

I am expert for National Research Agency and Research, University Evaluation Agency on chemistry and polymer science, Czech Science Foundation, Romanian Innovative Council and Research Council of Quebec for evaluation of research projects.

In 2004 I had the responsibility of UPPA Mat which is a structure from the university to develop the relations between companies and university through technical studies.

Analysis and physico-chemistry of polysaccharides and their derivatives


I initiated new developments in the elaboration of new polymeric systems with specific rheological, tensioactive, cosmetic or biomedical properties. This concerns specifically natural based systems (cellulose and derivatives, chitosan, starch derivatives, xanthan, gellan, hyaluronate and others).

More especially during the few last years I worked on the elaboration of hydrogels or microparticles based on polysaccharides (or derivatives from chemical modification) and their ability to incorporate and release active matter.


New processes were elaborated for chemically modifying the polysaccharides and the use of microwaves technology is extended.


I was supervisor (or co-supervisor) of 25 PhD thesis.
